With 15 years clinical experience, I offer acupuncture in Knowle and Clifton, Bristol to effectively treat a wide range of conditions.

These include sports injury and musculoskeletal pain, migraines and headaches, menopausal symptoms, fertility and menstrual disorders. I also have a particular interest and success in helping people with stress, anxiety, and insomnia. I am a degree level trained acupuncturist and a member of both the British Acupuncture Council and also the Acupuncture Fertility Network.

Acupuncture is a traditional healthcare system, which dates back over 2000 years, and deals with a range of acute and chronic problems. It views pain and illness to be signs the body is out of balance. By inserting ultra-fine sterile needles into specific acupuncture points, it seeks to re-establish the free flow of energy to restore balance and trigger the body’s natural healing response. Essentially acupuncture gives your body the instruction (and a little energy) to right itself.

Acupuncture is a scientifically proven way to get well and stay well. A growing body of evidence-based clinical research shows that acupuncture can be safely considered for a wide range of common health problems. My treatments aim to encourage the bodies own natural healing abilities, helping alleviate your symptoms while also addressing the underlying root cause.

My treatment is always aimed at the root cause of your condition as well as treating your main symptoms. This approach helps with resolving your problems and enhancing your feeling of well-being. By treating the whole person, my principal aim is to trigger the body’s own healing response. As the natural equilibrium is restored , people often notice other niggling problems resolve as well as the main complaint, or find they are sleeping better or less tired.

I also offer diet and lifestyle advice when necessary and as well as acupuncture needles I also use other traditional methods if needed such as:

  • Moxibustion or heat lamps to warm and relax the muscles and mobilise your Qi
  • Cupping: glass or plastic cups with a vacuum seal are placed on the skin to stimulate blood flow and clear & move stagnant Qi
  • Guasha: vigorous rubbing of the skin increases blood flow and clears stagnant Qi

I currently practice from my clinic in Knowle, Bristol and also from the Clifton Practice, Bristol. Evening and weekend appointments are sometimes available on request.

Testimonials

I first contacted Gemma a year after having a very intrusive operation that left me with consistent pain and had a great impact on my life. I needed to find alternative medicine other than what my GP could offer as he had run out of ideas, this is when I contacted Gemma. My consultation was professional, In depth and I felt very comfortable in her presence. After two sessions I was starting to feel better, and five sessions later the issue had gone, I just wish I had been in touch sooner, but I now have my life back and for that I am very grateful.
Rob, Bristol

In a desperate attempt to cure my insomnIa and anxiety I booked an acupuncture appointment. I was very sceptical but I was amazed when my insomnia disappeared immediately, it was incredible! My anxiety was reduced after the first session as well. My anxiety reduced and confidence grew rapidly until I no longer needed to attend. Gemma is such a calming and reassuring person and the session itself was extremely relaxing. As someone scared of needles, I would have no hesitation in recommending acupuncture with her.
Sarah, Bristol

Gemma is very kind and caring and has a thorough holistic and thoughtful approach to treatment. Her knowledge and passion also shine through. I highly recommend her work.
James, Adult Education Tutor

Gemma is thorough, professional and holistic in her approach to treatment. She is also friendly, approachable and warm. She provided a space for me to resolve a problem I’d had for months with love and care. The way she uses the needles is extremely caring and painless. I would recommend her to anyone.
Malika, Bristol

Gemma treated me for long-term back problems that I got working as a Hospital ward nurse. She has a wonderfully calm manner and is very skilled in her profession. I felt benefits after just one session with Gemma, and I would highly recommend her to anyone.
